Service Description
In this 6-week class, students will explore major art movements and the artists who helped shape them—through clay. Each week, we’ll take a look at a different artist or style, learn about the ideas and techniques that defined their work, and then create a clay project inspired by their unique voice. From abstract to narrative, sculptural to kinetic, students will be encouraged to experiment and interpret these styles in their own way. The focus will be on creative expression, understanding visual language, and learning how to use clay as a tool for storytelling and design. Artists & Movements we'll explore: - Pablo Picasso – Cubism - Yayoi Kusama – Contemporary Art & Repetition - Auguste Rodin – Realism & Figurative Sculpture - Faith Ringgold – Narrative Art & Story Quilts - Alexander Calder – Kinetic Art & Wire Forms - Henri Matisse – Fauvism & Paper Cutout Abstraction Class Schedule: Classes meet every OTHER week on the following Wednesdays: September 10, 24 October 8, 22 November 5, 19 December 10 is reserved as a make-up day only if MeliaPottery must cancel due to weather, power outages, etc. It is not a make-up day for student absences.
