From Mud to Music (Wednesdays)

Service Description

This Maymester, we’re doing something a little different. In this 4-week class, students will make their own working instruments out of clay—flutes, ocarinas, whistles, and more. We’ll walk them through how to build each piece, what tools to use, and where to place holes so they actually produce sound. No prior clay experience needed. This class is especially fun for band students (or any kid who enjoys music and making things), but it’s open to beginners. Levi has been exploring clay instrument making for the past couple of years alongside his band experience (flute and clarinet), and we’re excited to bring others into the process. Class Times: This class meets on Wednesdays through May (5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27) from 10am-12pm Details: 4-week session All materials included (clay, tools, glazing, firing) Students will create 2–4 instruments If you have a student who’s interested but can’t make either time, send us an email—we only need 4 students to open another class and are happy to see what we can make work.
