Course Description
Sculpture is designed for students who want to think and create in three dimensions. Whether they're brand new to sculpting or already have experience, we'll help them build the skills needed to turn simple forms into detailed, expressive work. Students will begin with the core geometric shapes that form the foundation of nearly every sculpture, then learn how to transform those forms into animals, figures, faces, and everyday objects. Along the way, we'll focus on proportion, texture, detail, and how thoughtful design brings a piece to life. A major emphasis of this class is working in the round—creating sculptures that are successful from every angle, not just the front. Students will train their eyes to see form in three dimensions while developing confidence and craftsmanship through hands-on practice. Projects may include human and animal figures, textured surfaces such as fur, feathers, or scales, expressive faces, and functional or decorative objects. This class is designed as a year-long curriculum with different projects offered in both fall and spring. Students are welcome to continue for multiple semesters as they refine their techniques and tackle increasingly complex subjects. Each class is 90 minutes long and meets on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30pm. The Fall semester runs August 26 through November 20. The studio will be closed October 21–23 for Fall Break. *For planning purposes, our spring semester will run February - April with one week in March for Spring Break. Registration for the spring semester will open towards the middle-end of fall semester. SUPPLIES All materials are included in class tuition. We provide a full collection of sculpting tools for student use, though students are welcome to bring their own tools for home practice if they prefer. PAYMENT INFO A one-time $25 family registration fee applies each semester, regardless of the number of children or classes your family enrolls in. Due to limitations with our online checkout system, the registration fee may appear to be included with each class during checkout. Don't worry—we review all homeschool registrations and will automatically adjust or refund any duplicate registration fees on our end. No action is required from you. The remaining balance may be paid before the first class or split into monthly payments due in September, October, and November.
